Most will start at entry level jobs, but MCD's historically promotes from within. Plus again, its 50k fewer fighting over other entry level jobs, which puts upward wage pressure on all entry level jobs, which does the same for the next rung up, ad infinim..

With as many people who are looking for work and praying for ANY job, it is unlikely to increase wages. About the only thing that will put upward wage pressure on any entry level job is when the feds increase minimum wage.

50,000 jobs ain't sh*t in a country that has lost 50,000 manufacturing jobs every month since 2001. That is like a drop in the bucket. Sadly, there will be immense competition for these few low wage jobs that do NOT promise advancement in Ronald McDonald's greedy corrupt global empire. I do know people who are technically homeless who've worked at McDonald's for years and they shack up with random fat girls with better jobs just to stay off the streets. Working 50+ hours weekly, they take home about $20 a week after having various amounts of money deducted from their measly checks to pay for child support or student loans. Why do some out-of-touch Americans keep trying to rationalize the awful direction our country is headed? Most Americans who think things aren't that bad are non-coincidentally the same people who have comfy living wage sedentary ass-growing jobs where they don't really work and they wouldn't be caught dead cleaning restrooms and working the register on their feet working grueling 10 hour shifts at a dirty ghetto Mickey D's at 3 AM. And oh yeah, it's not like McDonald's employees in many areas do not completely consist of what appears to illegal Central American immigrants who can barely speak a sentence in English .

There was a time in this country when the only people who worked at McDonalds were high school kids.

Desperate people take what they can get. This recession started employment wise back in 2007.

actually, over the course of 2010 and into the new year the manufacturing sector has been, albeit slowly, adding jobs.
not saying that it's anywhere near where it needs to be, but I'd take a slowly growing manufacturing sector over a declining one.

People just do not get it this means nothing. Yes a handful of those jobs are well paying but the bulk pay minimum wage. The hiring will be done over 14000 McDonald's were taking 3.5 jobs per McDonald's. We have 13.5 million unemployed. Add the 6.5 million who have stopped looking for work. In large part because living wage jobs are becoming a thing of the past. We are becoming a low wage service job market. The fast food game works like this you hire way more then you need. Why because workers quit do not show up get locked up whatever the reason. You always have lots of workers on the rolls. So you can always find a warm body. Almost no one gets full time ever your looking at 15 to 25 hours a week. That is it and you always start at minimum wage. You stay that way for years. If your lucky and a hard worker you get 10 to 20 cent raise for a year. But let's say you have some work history in fast food. So they give you 8 bucks an hour at 20 hours a week. That is 7680 for the year before taxes. If you do not get food stamps you will starve.

They are already increasing wages.
McDonalds advertised this week that the starting pay will be $10.00/hour for new hires in this area.
Prior to this, McDonalds paid minimum wage ($7.25/hour) for new hires without experience.
That's quite a big jump in wages.
