I think women use language more than men do as weapons. When I worked with a bunch of lawyers at a government office the males tried to get me to bake "special" brownies for an office function, another time at a birthday lunch at a restaurant one of them held a long flashlight and said it was the birthday girl's ----. and I was physically assulted when one of them found his name was going to be in the newspaper and I happened to get on the elevator with him at lunch time, apparently the newspaper stimulated him. He also had a Kotex dispenser hanging on his office wall since he proclaimed he didn't believe in sexual harrassement while handling personnel appeals. At that office most of the women were really pretty good but that isn't alway true.

It costs your employer money everytime someone quits and a new hire needs to be trained. Ask him/her to consider whether the employee turn over rate justifies the cost of those trouble makers. If it is a large office, a manager with a high turnover rate will have trouble explaining the problem to their boss. The bosses are generally aware of office politics and their not dealing with it is making a bad culture which reflects on everyone and the business. They want people who are "low maintenance" as they really don't know how to handle the situations.

You might try to figure out who the leader of the gang is and then the followers. Try talking to the weakest follower first and then when she is receptive start working on another until you have some numbers on your side. The gang leader has great skills but not used appropriately. Having a few people on your side will help keep your sanity as well as errode her base. Isolating yourself won't help you socially or mentally.

Good luck with the new job!

You work harder and smarter than them and get noticed by those that you report to. You make the customer feel at home around you. These women aren't there for the customer and because of that are not there for the business. You forget about them and realize that you are their for the business and not a social contest. These kind of people are everywhere. You can beet them with doing all you can to make your work place a professional, consumer friendly place of business.
