I have never been fired from a job or laid off. I have been extremely lucky on both counts. My wife was fired from one job because she works in retail and a new manager came on board and decided that when she could not make it on time to open the store, the employees would be given keys and required to open the store. My wife balked at that and so she was fired. And I have no problem with that. She is not paid to be a manager and having the keys is a management responsibility. It would have opened her and the other employees to all kinds of stuff. So my wife took a month off and easily got another job that is closer to home and has better hours than the one she got fired from.

For some reason, no matter what you do here where I am at now, you cannot get yourself fired
You were not the charactor in "Fast Times At Ridegmont High" were you? I never saw a teenager fired so many times!

I think those co-workers are into competition that is why they bully and get you fired.

It happened to a relative of mine. She is very obsessive about perfecting her work and about showing up on time every day. She is also polite, shy, and not into politics. She told me the co-workers had ganged up on her and made her look bad and the boss finally told her to leave or they would have security escort her out. I was like omg I cannot believe it.

Somehow, these employees find some kind of protection at work, and use bullying tactics to keep themselves in their own castles.
You can see the quality of services and products going way down...good employees don't get promoted or used to both sides' benefits.
But I will always do my job well...I am being paid to do that as a professional, and that is how I feel about myself.

Why do people make it seem like it is impossible to get another job if you were once or twice fired?

People have to work and pay bills. Fact of life.

Have you ever expressed that you were sexually harrassed or by ***; did *** ever make sexual advances upon you? Did I ever tell anyone that he made sexual advances on you?

I was flabbergasted! I said no, how horrible, why would anyone say such a thing? The closest I've ever been to Mr. **** is the same distance you and I are from each other (desk distance), over the printer, in the kitchen, during birthday celebrations. I would never think such a thing, he would never do such a thing. I said I've never verbally expressed such a falsehood.

HR says i'm under investigation and not to tell anyone, to keep my mouth shut. And that their door is always open, all the while with the smile of a parana.

I am embarrased about this, why?

Because I'm a domestic violence survivor and in 2002 and 2004 I was let go (fired) b/c of inability to perform my job. That was a very difficult time for me and learning to live alone w/out abuse while being stalked while going through divorce. I've been to 4 DV shelters in 4 states for help and settled here.

My life was going well and I finished my graduate degree.

At my present job I'v reported physical and mental abuse to HR 2X of a different attorney and have another witness thereof (another attorney). I work in a law firm. I never said sexual harrassment.

I've also had to file a workers comp claim (as have 2 others in the past 18 mths).

I believe this may be retaliation and group stalking.

My new vehicle has been scratched in the parking garage. Prior to this meeting, I feel as if I'm being watched. Comments about my personal property and life in question. All future responses will be one word.

I don't have the money for an attorney, yet may have an EEOC claim?

I am embarrased to ask for help. Police say HR has right to follow me after hours as part of her investigation. I don't believe that.

I was so upset that I was suicidal again (during violent marriage); these false statements returned those feelings again.

HR says I must prove I did not say this, yet will not divulge to whom I said it. If I cannot prove that which I did not say to whom I don't know who said it, then I have no defense? I feel someone is trying to rid me, either the invidivual or the firm itself.

So, I may be fired a 3rd time.

Any advice on how to overcome this and find another job?

Will I qualify for unemployment?

Angry got fired from a job

I have worked as a Teacher Assistant for more than 8 years. Last fall I went to about 9 interviews and I was getting frustrated. Our family needs the income. I finally decided to broaden my search base and applied for a job that required a 70 min commute, and was hired. When I received my performance review, the supervising teacher checked off " below requirements" for "ability to communicate" and "ability to work independently" .This was ironic because I was often asked to cover for other employees when they were absent. I requested a meeting with my supervisor and asked her to write down a list of specific things that she would like to see so that I could improve. I never received the list.I found it strange that none of these concerns were conveyed to me before the review.I was devastated because I never received such a bad performance review. Two weeks later the administrator calls me into his office and says that he should have been present at that meeting and that he makes the final recommendation as to weather or not I continue to work there. I was told that I would no longer be working there two weeks later.

When I got fired in 2006 it took me quite a while to find a new job. But the moment I began lying about being fired, and instead saying I quit, I started landing interviews and very shortly thereafter found a job.

I simply told prospective employers that I provided a 2 week notice and was promptly let go a few hours later. So when prospective employers inquired about my employement, they were told I was ineligible for re-hire and this of course, pretty much matched up with my lie. A former employer won't reveal too much since they certainly don't want a lawsuit.

I was fired from McDonald's for giving away a box of 30 cent(this was in 1985)box of cookies to a friend. Funny thing was that a assistant manager gave away an 11 dollar meal to a friend off of my drawer the same day. No loss leaving the job that's for sure.

Being fired from McDonalds is probably a good thing to put on a resume!
