What do you do as an "IT analyst"? I've seen the term around, but can't figure out what the job is all about.
I've worked in two separate disciplines. As a Data Exchange and Integration Specialist, I dealt with the creation and testing of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) documents and with B2B (Business-To-Business) data exchanges over a wide variety of networks and communication protocols.
As an Automation Specialist, I worked in the ESM (Enterprise Systems Management) group. This involves writing automation, testing, and monitoring routines for all of the servers and devices across the entire enterprise. All of this information is fed into the BSM (Business Service Management) system to allow the business process owners to see how their systems are functioning at any moment in time.
Wife: AA in General Studies, BA in Business (w/emphasis on Accounting), lots of OJT classes with Accounting/Finance software, now works in the banking industry as an Analyst. Her resume' makes mine look like........well, let's NOT go there!
Me: High School Grad w/some college classes, 3 online classes in Purchasing, Inventory, Distribution and Warehousing, remainder of education......OJT. Also have experience/training (yrs and yrs ago) in Emergency Medicine (running around with lights/siren on).
Eligible/applied for SS/Early Retirement, which I'll be getting in a couple of months (due to being unemployed far too long). Wife was lucky, she didn't have to go for SS/Early Retirement due to finding the banking job.
