Just depends for me. I typically don't start until 10 and am usually done for the day by 2, often by noon or shortly after. For every hour I spend with clients there's, on average, another two of behind the scenes work. Even on a typical day that can end up biting you in the ass, however. When they want it tomorrow morning that nice 3 hour job (10 to 2 with a hour lunch) means you're either working all night or canceling the plans you had for the rest of your day.

And then you have the bad days. Morning appointment at ungodly o'clock (usually 6 or 6:30), second appointment at 10, get a frantic call at 1:45 to cover a 2 o'clock thirty minutes away. Show up 15 minutes late. Get yelled at. End up working until 7. Call your 6 o'clock to let them know the "probably by this evening" isn't going to happen. Get yelled at. Call the girlfriend and cancel dinner plans. Get yelled at again. Drive home and spend the next four hours finishing up the 6 o'clock's job while ignoring sulking girlfriend. Crash at 1 a.m. Get rudely woken up at 6:30 by the still pissed off girlfriend. The hell if you, Mr. 10 to 2 and too busy to spend any time with me, are going to sleep in when I haveto be at work at 8. So it goes.

THIS! I would love some sort of consistency at least from week to week. It definitely gets old after awhile.

And I just got a second, 'will-be-calledas-needed' job. I may be working odd hours 7 days a week. That's next week's schedule. I hope I can do it!
