So about 30 hours when you include commuting. My income is not tied to hours.
What career do you have?

Self-employed entrepreneur. My employees were adamant that they wanted more time off in the summer. So this is the schedule we agreed upon. Many of them work long hours even with the summer schedule. Ironic how that works. Unfortunately, my commute is longer these days.

Sounds like they just wanted to not have to be in the office as much to work in the summer.

Yea, I was able to figure that much out on my own. As long as they meet deadlines and keep the clients happy, it's not a problem for me. Our work isn't so much "busy work" and the summer is generally slow for us. The one exception is our Olympics-related projects.

are all of you getting time and a half for all those hours over 40 that you are working?

I think some people exaggerate how many hours they work. There are several of you that said you work 80 hours a week. I find that hard to believe, even if you are self-employed.

So if I only want to work 40 hours a week...max 45 does that make me lazy? I don't know but I VALUE my time home after work. My previous employer didn't like the fact that I wouldn't check emails after 6PM. After work it's all about MY time. This doesn't mean I wouldn't stay late to finish a project because I have done that plenty of times. But if I see it becoming a habit then I will say something.
