Default Good signs in an interview?

I interviewed yesterday with a company I really want to work for. Towards the end of the interview, they gave me a short idea of the benefits they offer and said that they would email me with more info on the benefits later this week. They also acted much more excited than I expected when I said I could start next week. The same day, I had an interview with a different company, which typically has two separate interviews on different dates, but after my first one, they immediately had me do the second interview as well. The two ladies who interviewed me here were very friendly and I felt very comfortable conversing with them. Even so, there are still the post-interview jitters setting in. Are these always very good signs that an interview may lead to an offer? What are some others?

I would say the two interviews in a row is a good sign beacuse if they didn't want to look at you further they would have stopped after the first interview.

We tend to provide everyone with benefit information, so for us, that is not to be taken as a positive sign.

I'm in the same boat. Had a second interview this week following a high-pressure presentation 2 days prior. The interview was first with a panel, then I was brought to meet with the director (I knew I would be meeting with her). We moreso chatted, she brought two of the other members who I would be working with in to meet me and had them ask me questions as well. She gave me some info on the office, asked when my contract at my current job would be up, and then mentioned to me there is room to move up at the company (I may be slightly overqualified for this position). All good signs, right? I spent an hour and a half total there and left feeling positive...now I'm just stuck waiting. I think the most you can to is try not to overanalyze what went on in the interview. If it went well, both of you obviously know that, and if they want you, they will let you know.

1. They ask for your references

2. Introduce you to staff members

3. Discuss pay frequency

4. Gives you the exact day you will be contacted in regards the hiring decision

Bad signs-"the opposite of everything above"

Maybe things have changed since I interviewed but I don't recall that discussing "pay frequency" ever came up at a first interview, while I was never given an "exact day" that contact would be made. In the latter case it was usually along the lines of, "we'll be in touch shortly" or, "we hope to make a decision within two weeks". An "exact day" never.

I was told-"you will be contacted no later than wednesday in response to the thank you letter. Hearing that i will be contacted in two weeks would make believe that I wasn't being considered for the job.

As I said, things may have changed since I last interviewed but I'm using as reference many interviews over many years in many different settings. Two weeks certainly isn't a long time when you're dealing with a large corporation and an executive vacancy but in a smaller company and a lower level position it might be sensible to fear the worst. But nothing is set in stone and obviously you keep looking and interviewing until a real offer comes along.
