I, and others I know, have not received our TAA payment for weeks while SCDew (South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce) fixes a 'glitch' in their new online claim system.
I receive TAA benefits while attending college full time through the TAA program but it has now been four weeks since I received any pay and others that I know are also experiencing the same thing.
On the 21st of October the online system suddenly marked all of our claims as 'exhausted' and backdated it which also made it look like we owe them money for overpayment (my claim won't actually be exhausted until the middle of 2018).
I have emails from SCDew that states that they are working on the glitch but don't know when it will be repaired for payments to resume. I depend on these checks to pay bill while I am attending college but after four weeks I am overdue on bills and might possibly loose my home.
Is anyone else in South Carolina experiencing this??
SCUBI was a screw up way before implementation. It was a political developed system to reduce employer payments to unemployment while allowing the participating states to keep more via denied claims. Nobody expected it to work especially in light of the political connection and involvement. Heck Tennessee finally pulled out of the program two years ago when they saw no hope of a fix; just tax payer money being wasted. However, since South Carolina considers employees the enemy of businesses, they really don't care if you get paid or not. All you can do is complain to your state representatives and your federal representative (since US tax dollars were involved) and hope for the best.
TRA is 100% Federal dollars. The state just administers the payments.
