What are the jobs for people that need to generate good income while auditioning for acting, singing, dancing, ect. gigs. I think substitute teaching is good because it is flexible and pays well in many of the creative cities. What others are good?
Most do waiting/bartending since auditions are usually during the day. Temp work is also popular. I've been trying to figure the same thing out. Trying to survive, especially in NY or LA to pursue the Arts is so hard due to the limited income opportunities while still being flexible.
It's not always an option, but it helps to have a related day job because that can provide networking opportunities. When I was in elementary and middle school, I acted at a children's theater and a lot of the adults who were in the plays and taught the acting workshops and camps were professional actors. I also know a few professional dancers who teach dance classes as their day job.
