What salary would be enough for you to relocate to Russia for teaching English?
Please, respond only if you have teaching experience, any certs or a bachelor’s degree. Replies like “A million dollar a year and a black Bentley Continental and I’m yours!!!” are not welcome. Young specialists preferred.
Thank you very much

Where in Russia? I'm from there and I can tell you that Moscow can be pricey. However, once you leave, things get cheap, really really cheap. Won't you be paid for your teaching?

I specialize in compensation but am not a teacher. I am assuming you are wondering how to structure an offer? Here's what I would do. I would determine average salary for 3rd year teacher in the USA. I would obtain average benefits cost (you can ballpark about 30% above base pay). I would then probably design a base pay package that is 150% of USA average (and either provide Health & retirement benefits or add another 30% to the pay package) I would subsidize housing costs for a nicely furnished and well located 2 bedroom/2 bathroom that won't cost the teacher more than 25% of gross pay. Example: If the teacher is earning $6000 a month; I would provide housing allowance for a decent place beyond the first $1500 a month. If such a place can be obtained for 25% of pay, I would then give a monthly housing stipend of $300 a month (this is because all expats expect housing subsidy). Don't forget transportation costs. If they are minimal/reasonable, just be sure to address that issue in the offer package....don't ignore it. If they are expensive, make provisions for them.

Well I have a bachelor's degree and am in my mid-20s. I was thinking about teaching English abroad for a while now, in particular, I was thinking about going to S. Korea.
From what I've been reading online, a lot of these organizations that are recruiting native English speakers will put you up with free housing in the host country and than provide you with a stipend.
The stipend doesn't seem top be a whole lot, but I guess it's enough for eating and living..
If I had my drothers I would want free-housing provided- nothing fancy, but relatively comfortable... internet, electricity, heat, air-con, etc.
Also, I would probably want about $25,000 to $30,000 a year in money in additon to my housing and thats about it.

From an employer's perspective, when you provide the housing you become the landlord. Every tweaky thing wrong with the housing starts to overflow into the job relationship. Every annoying thing the employees do that impact relationships with neighbors or community becomes the employers' problems. To keep things in a more professional alignment, it works when the employee selects his own housing and pays for it. But I do agree, enough pay to cover housing or any kind of housing cost assistance has become the expectation for expats.

I too would like to request a billion dollars, 2 black bentleys. Not the cheap ones either. I want a personal vegan chef at my disposal and an exotic monkey servant serving me cocktaisl and cleaning up after me.

i dont know, I cant speak russian nor do I know how to teach english. In order to effectivly teach a language you have to speak the language of thoes you are teaching as well and have to know how to teach. However russian may be the language to learn since I beleive that russia is encouraging thoes with significant russian heritage to come back, they are moving their manufacturing away from the chineese boarder as well. Something is going down in russia, they may become the new USA and they have the balls to snuff out their competition instead of allowing their enemys to slowly choke them out.
