I recently applied at a local Dollar General store. A few days later, I called to see if the assistant manager has had a chance to review my application. She said to call her back on Monday, which was a few days later.

When I called back on Monday, she told me that my background information had not come back yet, but when it does, she will give me a call. So, apparently she is running a background check on me, without an interview.

It has been about a week and two days now (since she told me she'd call me back), and I have not heard back from her. Should I call to check and see if my background information has come back yet? Or, just continue waiting on her to call me?

I don't want to ruin my chances of getting this job by being a bother to the assistant manager. But, at the same time, I don't want her to think I am not interested.

Please help.

I am wondering what is it about Dollar General Store that makes you want to work there? It sounds like you have a lot of enthusiasm for the job. Is that the only choice that you have in how you want to spend your time or is this a goal that you have to work for Dollar General Store? How long have you known that you wanted to work at that store? Has it been a life long goal for you or something that you have recently decided?

Well, I wouldn't mind working there, to be honest.

But, the reason I am trying so hard to get this job is because there are no more jobs available in my area. I have called every place, and nobody was hiring except the very last place I called, which was Dollar General that had just opened up and needed a couple of cashiers.

I need money, and something to do during the day. That is why I want a job right now. When I further my education, then I will go for a better job.
