Office parties, gift giving etc... (work, money, supervisor, buy)

Do you buy gifts for co-worker's birthday's? I have been working in this office for 7 years and have only bought a couple gifts for co-workers since I've been here. I don't do it anymore.

I really hate attention and have told these people multiple times that I didn't need my birthday celebrated and I definitely do not want gifts. Well I work with all women and of course they continue to do it. I always hope they forget but we have one women in here that keeps tabs on birthday's and she always rats me out lol.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate it when they do it. But I really really dislike being the center of attention and I hate receiving gifts. I even tell my parents not to waste any money on gifts for me.

Does your office celebrate birthday's? Do you exchange gifts on Christmas? Do you participate?

I work in a big office. We do cake once a month for anyone with a birthday in that month. No gifts.

For Christmas I get everyone lower than me in my department something (usually a gift card or wine) and I get my direct boss a bottle of wine. We don't "officially" have any gift giving.

I do have a few close friends in the office and we will usually go out for lunch on our birthdays and the rest of the people pick up the tab for the birthday person.

No! A card is fine. I'm a supervisor and every once in awhile I'll spend a couple of bucks and buy someone an individual birthday treat from a bakery, but that's it.
