Depending on how I was feeling that day, I would either leave

a.) without saying a word

or

b.) by being escorted out by security for getting into expletive-filled shouting matches with certain people in the office

I own my own business and I would sell everything that has to do with my business material related, I would close the business, donate most of the winnings, set up trusts for our grandchildren then have the time to restore both motor homes and travel trailer that we have.
When they are done I would sell all of them and get a motorhome that I really want then we would take long weekends whenever we want.
I would also have many shelves put into my sewing/crocheting room and have more yarn, fabric and office supplies than I do now.

I do in fact love my job. I love my co-workers, bosses, etc. I don't think I'd be able to not work. I'd be so bored.

If they know you've won the lottery, your co-workers and bosses won't be the same to you anymore.

I would act any different or address the fact that I am a clown either - I would just let things escalate on their own and just keep doing my job until they kicked me out. And then I'd walk to the top of the stairs, almost at the street, bend over and give them a nice clown moon...

The other one I had was I would be at work, checking my ticket - or scratch off a million dollar amount - and mid-sentence, no matter what was going on... I would just walk out the door - hopefully as a stuporviser is yelling at me, trying to get my attention. I'd just ignore everything and walk away - then I'd clear out my retirement account and go crazy until my lottery money arrives...

If I win now, I might be off the job but I'll go back just to annoy them... or maybe not.

What would you do?
If it were enough money that I would not have to work, I would...

Give my resignation but stay long enough to find my replacement and make sure they were properly trained. If it's more money than I could spend in a lifetime and after helping out specific family members, I would donate a portion to my employer (it's a non-profit and I believe in and support our/their mission).

I'd quit, then I'd apply for jobs and during the interview, ask for accommodations for a variety of issues that no sane manager would ever give, but do it for S & G and see their responses...

Depends on how much I won.
But no I wouldn't quit the next morning and tell my boss to kiss it….

If I win BIIIG MONEY, like a record breaking jackpot that's one plan. If I win "just enough to retire" that's another plan.
For BIIIIG, TV attention jackpot win:
-- I'd continue working like nothing had happened
-- Schedule two vacation weeks as soon as I could
-- See my lawyer, CPA, and financial planner
-- Depending on how MUCH I won….
-- I might WAIT a few months for the hubbub to die down (if I die the winning ticket is already part of my estate)
-- I'd only resign, with two weeks notice, after getting the first check (which takes a few weeks AFTER you claim)

For "just enough for me to retire" win (say a 500-thou to a million NET after taxes, so a one-two mill win gross):
Same as above, but I don't have to wait as long to claim. Because there's less need to stay anonymous. People win second tier prizes or big scratch off money all the time and no one knows about it.

I read a book about sudden money, it suggests that before you even claim the BIIIG MONEY.
-- Move, change your phone number, etc…arrange a trip for immediately after you claim the prize
-- Obviously, claim anonymously if you can -- or AS anonymously AS you can (through a trust, etc)
-- Thank God I live in and next to a state that DOES let you stay anonymous thank goodness.

It would depend upon how I was treated when I didn't have such an option.

If my relationship with the employer was good, or if I enjoyed the nature of the work, I'd let him/her call the shot as to whether (s)he felt comfortable with an employee who was now financially independent. I might even stick around, or go part-time / consulting, if the relationship was extremely cordial and there was room for a little more autonomy.

But if the employer constantly "held my nose to the grindstone", and especially if I were subjected to heavy demands on my personal life, and/or on short notice, I'd wait until such an intrusion were dropped on me; then, I'd walk out without any notice in midday -- and invite any friends for an after-work celebration.
