OP, you sound autistic. You clearly don't get social graces/niceties.

Is this supposed to be unheard of or something? What is so wrong with a co-worker asking what you are doing for the weekend?
In my opinion people ask this for a number of reasons. To be friendly/social. To shoot the breeze and waste some time. Maybe they want to get to know you. Maybe they want to see if you would want to hang out. Maybe they want to get to know their co-workers and see what their interests/likes are. Maybe they are just curious, ya know.
I personally don't mind a co-worker asking me this. Hell, if I like the person and I didn't have anything in particular going on I might ask if they want to go grab a drink or hang out somewhere. You never know, you could make new friends or at the very least just make chit chating with co-workers a little more pleasant on a personal level. Just my opinon.

Man you didn't read the whole thread. Don't you know work is for work and the drones on here don't want to do anything but work when they're at work. They don't want friends or socializing. They do just fine by themselves. They know that they're so special that none of their co-workers will have the same interests as them. Any promotions they get won't be from networking or contacts or just being pleasant to work with. Their advancement will come from their absolute working all the time they're at the job site.

I'm guessing you are being sarcastic here. Or are you being serious? Sounds sarcastic.
I will say that I can understand that you may not want to hang with co-workers for certain reasons and in certain work environments. But in general it doesn't bother me. I would hang with just about anyone until they prove to be someone that I don't want to hang with.

Scenario:
Bob just got off work and walks in the house and his wife asks him how his day went.
He says: "****ty. Absolutely ****ty. Get this, dear: Jerry, this clown I work with, who I liked until he asked me the horrid question about what I'm doing this weekend. Can you believe it, the son of a ***** asked me what I'm doing this weekend. What has this world come to? I mean, I know I could raise my blood pressure and have my day destroyed over issues such as the economy being in the tank and we'll never save enough money for our little Jonny to go to Harvard, or how kids are starving in Africa with no end in sight. But, seriously, what has this world come to. Someone asked me what I'm doing this weekend... Dear God, why!?"

The written word doesn't transmit sarcasm well. You are correct about the sarcasm.
