A security camera is not going to prove anything. If someone is a poor cashier and gave someone back too much change, that isn't going to show up on the camera.

And if a cashier took 100 bucks out of the register and slid it in their pocket, it's going to be obvious on the camera.

I can assure you from considerable experience that a cashier knows if there is a security camera operating and, if that cashier is going to steal, the money isn't going to be taken out of the register and slipped into the pocket.
I had a lady come back claiming that she gave me $60 and that I put that she gave me $40. My manager came over and did an audit and the register was $100 short ??? So instead of it being $20 over it was $100 short ?? I work at walmart and throughout the whole day there are about 15 people on each register, I had been on that register for 45 minutes when this had to happen. It was late at night and she told the customer to call a number tomorrow and that the surveillance video would be viewed at the moment that she gave me the money. I always tell the customer "out of__." Can coupons cause this?
So yesterday at the end of my shift cashiering at the dollar store, we all counted our cash registers. For some reason, mine was $100 short. I really couldn't believe it. Another cashier used my cash while I was on break and even still had my cashier code on while using it. I forgot to take it off. Maybe it was her
My next shift is in 2 days and I have no idea what's going to happen. Am I going to get fired?? It's seriously not fair. I have never lost that amount of money... There's no proof it was my fault. Any other cashiers or former cashiers here know what could happen?
Even though you are sure you didn't take that $100 you might have one of two things happen. They may trust you and give you another chance or you could be let go. Perhaps over the next two days, if more cash is missing and you are not there, they will be able to figure out who is doing this. Why does someone else have your Cashier Code? Is that normal? It has been a long time since I cashiered anywhere so I don't know how things work now. What did happen to me while cashiering at a Convenience Store is that I got robbed at GunPoint..yup..kinda scarey stuff. I quit that same night. I was working a second job as a single Mom to put my son thru college and this jerk comes in and scares the crap out of me. Bye, Bye convenience store!! Good Luck with this. Not easy handling money at any job!!
