I'm experience a mid life crisis of sorts.

I can't stand my present occupation. I've been doing it about 20 yrs now and I'm finding that I need some kind of change.

I'm toying around with the idea of getting into Ultrasound or maybe MRI as a new career. I'm looking at various programs and some of them are gonna require some serious time commitments. I'm looking to find out some of the real day to day things about doing the job that is negative or tiring. I realize that all jobs have their negatives, but I just don't want to spend the time and the money and energy to find out that some of the of the day to day stuff are things that I can't or don't want to deal with.

Thanks in advance.

Chowhound, possible future MRI tech.

Chow, if you got the means to do it, then do it. I`m sure you have done the research on the responsibilities of a MRI tech, and you find it interesting.
If you are in a dead end job, then there is no reason why you can`t explore your options to do something that you half-way enjoy. I realize jobs are not usually "happy fun time" but it helps when you don`t mind getting up and going to work everyday.
A bonus for you is that you do not have any kids, so you could spend the time focusing on your new career.
Good luck!
