Sorry. It's about luck and who you know. There are some jobs, but way too many people who need them.

But the gov claims the depressions over and there is work
for everyone who wants it. Who's telling facts and not opinion.

It's election time for Obama so of course the economy is growing. He has to get in somehow? the truth is irrelevant.

When the job market is Bad, it's due to volatility, when it's good, it's because of how good a job Obama is doing.

what are we at 46 million on Food stamps Bravo Mr. Obama!

Courtesy of Mr. Karl Denninger who runs the market ticker blog.

As you can see, the "unemployment rate" is being manipulated by adjusting the percentage of the population that is "in the workforce". When you remove 4% of the population from the workforce your unemploymnent rate will look a lot better.

The Gov is lying so that Obama will look good. I live in Chicago which has a lot of mfg related jobs and I've been unemployed here since Feb 2009. I interviewed for a Tech Writer job and the company got 221 resumes for it.

I used to want Ron Paul to be President, but when I learned he doesn't like Social Security then I didn't like him anymore. All of the Republican candidates are much worse, and mostly I hate all Republican Congressman because they're all for the rich and corporations. So unfortunately, Obama is the least worst candidate for President and I think he will get re - elected. And I don't like some of the things he's done.

There are jobs out there to be had. I actually believe there has been some job growth, but the average American won't be benefiting. The job growth I am seeing is advanced skill level, highly specialized arenas. Some of the wages being posted for some areas actually are looking better than a year ago. Problem is, typical run of the mill jobs that a monkey could do still have hundreds of applicants applying for one job.

The manufacturing sector in the Chicago area has been hit harder than most. There is plenty of hiring still going on, but at lower wages in many cases, unless the job is difficult to fill. Shops are busier than ever, but mostly due to so many closing up over the past decade. The ones that are left cannot accommodate all the work right now.

It depends on your skill set and the industry. Most people I know in the IT industry have had no problem finding new jobs.

I have heard this too, and what part of IT are they in? I'm in computer repair and helpdesk break/fix, and its hard for me to find a job even here in Oklahoma. Are your friends programmers or network/security specialists?

It makes a big difference where you are, here the foreclosures are way down, unemployment is still high at 7.8% but much better than in 2009-2010, and lots of places are hiring. When high tech is hiring, there is more money to be spent so unrelated businesses also benefit and start hiring, from hotel staff to fast food and retail. We are seeing new home developments starting up again after a 4-5 year stoppage.
