The company i work for is based in the the los angeles area & they claim they mailed me my paycheck last mon august 13th. I have yet to receive it & the pay check stub has my full 9 digit ss #. I just found out that its illegal to put the full ss# on the check due to possible identity theft. Im hoping im not a victim. As of 1/2008 the employer can only put the last four of your ss# or a id # on your pay check stub. The company i work for is violating the law & i will be making a copy & sending it to my supervisor. http://employer-law.com/Article.aspx?id=23
Still no check today & 1 co worker didnt receive his either. I was also expecting a small govt check that was mailed from texas last weds the 15th. Hmmmm.
What I really want to know, is why is your check mailed to you at home? Are you work from home? Why not have it direct deposited?
The company will not set up direct deposit but i will sign up for dd on the very small govt check next week. I dont work from home. I have never experienced a delay in the mail this long. Whats amazing is the company didnt know about the 2008 ss # law.
Ugh leave when you financially can or if you find a new job. They should be able to do a stop pay and reissue it after 10 days.
I plan to. I just hope no one has my check cause if they do then im screwed due to my full ss # on my pay stub. Identity theft effects millions in america & i dont want to be one of them.
I found the info i needed on another website. It pays to search & not depend on one site only. The answer was yes unless i want to pay a fee.
