I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm more qualified than most people who are working and I would be BEYOND blessed right now to have just about anything. I've been bust my hump for quite some time now trying to do everything right and I still haven't "made it."
I have plenty of people I know on facebook(especially) and people in my daily life who do nothing BUT complain about their jobs. It's becoming a pet peeve of mine. I'm unemployed, struggling and there's always somebody WITH a job constantly complaining about it. I understand that most jobs, most people do not want, but it's better than being unemployed and not getting any income at all.
I can't log onto my facebook or talk to somebody in my daily life giving me this "woe is me" story about how they hate their jobs. Sometimes I just want to strangle them and say, "How about we trade places...let's see what you like better!"
I always tell them, "Well if it's so bad then quit or shut up."
People not only have a right, they have a duty to complain about injustices at work. We shouldn't put up with exploitation just because there are people who can't find a job. It's a race to the bottom.
It shouldn't be a competition about how much abuse you can take. "Your boss yelled at you and you didn't get a raise? So what? I'd let him punch me in the face for $3/hour. At least I'd have a job then". Before long, we'd all working in deplorable conditions for slave wages.
The solution is to work together to improve the working conditions of everybody. Complaining about one's work goes a small way towards this. It raises awareness. That's something. You should thank these people for raising abuse issues at their job and perhaps offer solutions to the quagmire. Obviously, being unemployed is difficult and I sympathize. But you should understand the end result of what you're suggesting.
If you had weigh station cops shutting your truck down due to some "bogus leak" that was not there during a pre-trip inspection, you'd be uber-*****ed too.
And yes, I quit that job despite the higher pay and am now working security again.
Complain less, no more headaches, and clean as a whistle.
It's not bright either to constantly complain about how much you hate your job to somebody who is unemployed and will take anything just to survive and get by in life. Everybody's going to hate a job until they get a career, but that's a part of life that you must deal with. I'm not saying you have to brag about your job or act like everything is peaches, but it's always worst when you don't have nothing to put food on the table, pay your bills, and pay off your debt.
Okay, I don't think you guys are getting what I'm saying. I NEVER said people don't have a right to complain about their jobs, just like I have a RIGHT to tell them to shut up about complaining about it.
This isn't a issue with freedom of speech, this is a issue of just being blessed with whatever you get because majority of people are suffering out there without a paycheck. What unemployed person wants to hear or read somebody constantly complaining about something they are trying so hard to get? If anything, those employed people are being insensitive.
I hear what you are saying - but Facebook is unfortunately filled with people who either brag or complain - the ones who do neither are the ones who never post updates anyway.
