Well, far as I know, to get the regular unarmed license is pretty easy, but for armed you have to take like a 47 hr course or something, not sure if they need any other certifications. I saw some jobs require things like cpr and what not. Basically, all this is time and money consuming so trying to see if it's worth it in my case.

That's not bad unless it's expensive. Texas just went from 30 hours of training to 40. Most schools will probably do 4 10-hour days since they used to do 3 10-hour days. Up in New Jersey, you'll probably train for 5 days to a week. CPR training can be done quickly and cheaply. While I don't even think it's required by state law down here, many companies require you to receive training and a certificate for handcuffing, baton, and pepper spray. Very few ask for taser certification. If you're only going to do security for a few months, it may not be worth it. It would be easier to just work unarmed.
That's good to know. That's the thing though, I don't know how long I will be doing it, depending on when the PD hires me, most likely at least 1.5 yrs so I guess would be worth it. Do armed security ever need to wear vests?
No one I know wears a bulletproof vest, but a company I used to work for required that our shirts be big enough so that we could wear a vest underneath. Of course, we would have to buy one if we wanted to wear one.
Damn, well, not surprising. I assume I won't need it for most things, but you never know. I will probably end up working in Jersey City or Newark, both are ghetto as hell so might need one at a certain point.
