When the economy was booming lots of people had laptops which cost around $1000 back then. Tablets are the new laptops and they are half the price. It isn't necessarily related to the state of the economy.

How am I insulting the unemployed and I'm unemployed too?-lol I'm just saying that as a unemployed person, when I see people lined up in my city waiting to buy a phone then the economy is not a excuse we should use as a reason why we are unemployed.

The purpose of the thread is for unemployed people like me and any other on this board to ignore stories about the economy.

My point is thinking about the economy is not a healthy mindset when seeking employment. I don't know about anyone else but after seeing that story I have become more positive.

Don't forget that probably a good chunk of those people can't really afford the phone or iPad. They're most likely putting it on credit or, if they're young, the parents are paying for it.
