What you haven't realized is my comments are retaliatory in nature... in response to your "Mary Tyler Moore" comments and the like...
In short... let's all just get along? Comments intended to get a rise out of me usually do... at that point I return the favor.
The MTM comparison was accurate and wasn't a insult. She moved to a another city and started a new life and found a job she liked. You moved from GA to Seattle and started a new life and found a job you like. The only difference is you are a male so what is inaccurate about my comparison?
And if anyone wants to attack me just go to my blog called TVanalyzer.com and you can do all day long.
But just keep in mind it's no way to make fun of a unemployed on a public employment message board without offending other unemployed posters and readers.

Fair enough. I thought you were trying to insult. My bad. Anyway... I guess the comparison is accurate except that I had the job lined up prior to moving here. I found it online and was hired over the phone... hence my reason for responding to this thread.
Quite honestly I'm tired of all the bickering ... rather keep the discussions civil.
I'd like to see all the mocking stop. Maybe you don't like someone or think their methods are stupid but to constantly dog them is just wrong.
Mature people can agree to disagree.
TRC, seriously, what you did was cool. It took guts rather than sitting still. There comes a time when you want to act on life, not let life operate on you. Your actions worked out!

Thanks. It turned out to be the best decision of my life but the price included leaving the family back east as well as my girlfriend of 3 years. She didn't want to leave her family behind so it's just me out here by myself...
But hey... I spent the week with her when I went on vacation to GA in Feb and she wants to come visit Seattle this summer... so who knows.
At any rate at the time I had a decision of girlfriend + unemployment or a job 3000 miles away... I chose the job.
Go walk up to your local grocery store and ask for an application, se what they say. Unless it is a Mom and Pop, they are going to tell you to go apply online.
I suppose he could just walk from business to business trying to get face time with managers, but its really not the same dynamic any more. Managers only talk to people after automated software, stupid personality tests, and HR people have weeded through the stack.
Mine gives me applications, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get in.
