I'm sitting in my cubicle doing my work and this fat guy who works with me comes over to show me something. He lifts up his armpit and it almost knocks me out.

So my question for everyone is:

Do I tell BO guy to invest in some deodorant or should I just breathe out of my mouth while he is around??

There is no way to do this type thing gracefully, unless this is a best friend or relative. Anything you might try would either humiliate or alienate. Breath through your mouth.

This is something that HR should deal with. Tell your HR rep that the BO is bad enough to make it impossible to properly perform your job. We had it happen at one of my previous jobs and HR dealt with it.

Email him next time... I worked with a woman once who I think took a bath in perfume or just never realized she was putting so much on... I never complained since I didnt sit by her but the ones that did cause us to get a email quoting policy from the handbook that said something to effect of wearing too much pefume may cause people with allergies to be effected. She finally toned it down but it took her awhile to catch on..

I would wait to see if it happens again. If it does I would either go to my boss or HR. Let them deal with it.

I had this happen with a guy in a vanpool situation going home (he was fine in the morning going to work).

I spoke to the guy about it. He thanked me for telling him. He said that had been a problem with him all his life.

He was able to arrange to take a shower before going home each day.
