What seems to have changed, at least in my industry, is the level of mastery you're expected to have for a certain skill. In past jobs, I made sure not to memorize stuff I could easily look up. But now I'm being asked about that very thing. It's almost like they're looking for the person who can memorize the most info. That's great if you can list the 5 this or the 3 that. But what about actually being able to apply it?
