What seems to have changed, at least in my industry, is the level of mastery you're expected to have for a certain skill. In past jobs, I made sure not to memorize stuff I could easily look up. But now I'm being asked about that very thing. It's almost like they're looking for the person who can memorize the most info. That's great if you can list the 5 this or the 3 that. But what about actually being able to apply it?

Being lean isn't enough these days. You need six-pack abs to get a date. You have to do what it takes to get them. The sad part is many will not, either due to genetics or lack of discipline, and they will be left to wallow in squalor for the rest of their lives. But if you do have the discipline and achieve them, you will have your choice of jobs and prosperity.
Just hope that the less attractive don't eventually revolt and burn everything down if $1000/mo in "please don't cause any trouble" welfare checks stop.
