If you didn't have a car or any kind of public transportation available, I was wondering how would you go about finding a job that allowed you to work from home? I've seen "work at home" jobs advertised before, but how do you know it's not some kind of a scam?
I have no car and there's no public transportation where I live. We have taxi's though but those are super expensive. My friends are awesome in giving me rides when I need them but we're all grad students and alot of them are getting married and starting families so I can't depend on them all the time since everyone is super busy.
I mean, most jobs just require a computer. The computer doesn't HAVE to be in an office. People work from home. They do whatever they'd do in the office at home.
Now if we're talking about those "I made 2,500 dollars last week working from home on google" ads you see on the side of websites or something, no those are scams.
But if you're talking about telecommuting, that's another thing. But you'd need to be doing a job that allows that, and eventually, you're going to need to get your own car or a bike or something because you'll have to go to the office eventually.

Those are scams. Beware.
But there are legit telecommute jobs also, most of it in IT. I know because I used to telecommute i my previous position.
And as people told you, you need to get a car. You can get something that will get you from A to B for 800-1000$.
Also, I only have a little over $800 that I had left over from student loans but I don't think it would be wise to use that money to buy a car because of the double interest.

Without a car you don't have a chance to get a job.
