Is it fair that smokers be allowed to take extra breaks in order to smoke a cigarette during the day?

What are your opinions on this and is it fair?

The only place I saw that was in an office environment and usually you don't have a scheduled break time anyway.

I edited out the "scheduled" break time.

If it really bothers you just start going out when they do.

It's annoying when you have the chain smoker who steps out for 10 minutes every hour. If only because god forbid you actually need them for something.

Only smokers get extra breaks for their fix? Non-smokers don't get extra breaks?

It doesn't make sense. Allow everyone to have those breaks if they're of the same grade, or don't allow them to at all.

I'm a former smoker who knows how it is to go out and smoke every 10 or 15 minutes.

I last had a cigarette on 6/6/2011 (yay me) and now I can smell smokers 10 miles away and when I jokingly confront the guys at work about their smoke breaks every 10 minutes it's the same "but you are texting on your cell phone all night" excuses... LOL
