Or you will find yourself doing those online applications with the personality tests, and then you make a mistake and you can't put in a new app until 4 more months.

It is not me who has a problem, it is this society, and the system it has.
The personality tests for poverty-wage jobs are idiotic and should be outlawed. Those jobs are basically a last resort - a way to keep people off the streets. Excluding everyone who doesn't match some crazy ideal employee is insulting and keeps more people out of work. It's one thing to not want to hire thieves, but who cares if the guy flipping burgers "likes to hear people talk about their problems" or "believes most people are honest." Does any of that matter or affect their job performance? Geez...

It was a hypothetical question. If you are not working now the
best thing you can do is find a volunteer position or join a
job Corp or labor organization where they pay you to show
up and work until you find somthing else.

Most minimum wage employers around here prefer illegals over legal American citizens. Hence, I find most minimum wage employers to be unpatriotic scum. Do you find that to be offensive? Should I give a crap either way?

I love the recent republican mantra... If we could only eliminate minimum wage, we could have full employment! Yea, and a lot of working Americans living under bridges and in dumpsters. Like that won't cost society dearly... It's amazing how some Americans think. Sometimes, I wonder if they even think at all, or if they just suffered extensive brain damage from nodding their heads and shaking their brains around too much...

Over many years in street ministry, I've met any number of people who have been 'unemployed' for 10-years or more, but, they rarely refer to themselves by that 'label', except, perhaps, as a euphemism for "I only work at odd jobs when I need a few bucks, but, nothing permanent!"

Yes, it's extremely difficult when one doesn't have a permanent address or place to live ... or transportation, but, that doesn't keep the folks in the missions and halfway houses from working regularly at 'day-labor jobs.'

Frankly, I'm not convinced that most of those considered 'chronically unemployed' or who ride-out unemployment benefits for two-years ... are really 'unemployed' ... except by choice. They have simply chosen not work at a wide range of jobs that pay less than 'unemployment benefits.' (Even severly disabled people who want to work eventually find jobs!).

homelessness and jail.
Volunteer and do a super job there, so as to gain references of work ethic, character, skill sets, etc .

Welcome to the real world. They have what you need... A job. They can ask whatever they want. However, if you want to plead the fifth, you have every right to do so.
