Is it possible to get a job as a manager if you dont have experience managing skills.
Will some employers overlook that fact if you have other very good skills.?

For the most part, no.

Th only other ways you can become a manager without managerial experience is through internal advancement or through a trainee program.

And even if you could realistically start off in Management without experience, those controlling the wheels don't take kindly to the fact that you for example can start near the top where as they had to work themselves up from the bottom, and will make it nearly impossible for you to do so.

I second the trainee program. Enterprise, Rent A Center, and other fast food type place have these programs. Although, my former boss was laid off from a non-supervisor job, and got a job at a college as a project manager....via her brother in law who got her the job. Never had a lick of management experience....it's all in who you know out here sometimes...

I did the trainee program when I was younger and would not care to do it again..It was for a certain car rental agency and felt they misled young college graduates.
Anyway I guess the internal route is only method these days.thanks.

No, too many employers have tried promoting a great employee and found they couldn't manage. Very hard to get into management without experience, with so many available that have done it for years. Try to volunteer to lead projects, and get into some management classes in evenings. Some employers even have a mentoring program with experienced managers to coach and help prepare people.

Probably not. One generally reaches a management position through increases in management responsibilty (hopefully coupled with a management training program).
