I'm in the midst of a career change, and one of the thoughts that is continuously swirling in my brain is whether or not there is enough work either in my current or future field to sustain job demand for days, weeks, years.
So ... I started thinking, what are the jobs where there is always demand for people to be working, where there is always something to be done, all year round?
The one thing I came up with was working at McDonalds. There's always a steady stream of customers at McDonalds day and night, 365 days a year, and they always need people to serve food or ring the register. They don't have to advertise or win clients. You can be assured that when you come into work on Monday, you won't be told, "There's nothing really going on right now. Read some technical manuals and take some online certification courses and charge it to overhead."

in regards to mcd's if you become an owner /operator for them you can make well over 150k a year and over time work your way into the millions. however it takes years and from i'm told consistently working 14-16 hour days.
anything healthcare related. as long as there are dumb kids and people jumping skateboards off guard rails you'll be in need.

Oh please!! Stop perpetuating the healthcare myth! Many places are short staffing, laying off, you name it. There are staffing firms that won't even place healthcare workers now.
It's like some mantra drummed into the public. Well, get this mantra...Too many people got shown the way to healthcare. Jobs in healthcare are NOT based on kids getting in skateboard accidents. Even nonprofit hospitals have upper management trying to keep the money at the top.
There's plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of demand in the healthcare industry. But it's not for healthcare professionals. It's for people to support the push towards a modernized healthcare infrastructure and 90% of those jobs are in DC, NJ, PA, MA, NY and CT.
None. And you ain't seen nothing yet...just wait for the end of this decade.
Good point. Maybe people will turn off their TVs and stop listening to the "news".
Things aren't bad enough yet. There are ghost towns in the Midwest.
And those mantras about healthcare...just some happy about Obamacare. Fee for service is gone, contracted amounts with the government are in. The more people are unemployed, the less money the
government will have in their sandbox.
Multi Level Marketing. The pay averages about 20% of minimum wage but you will be working your tail off.
