I would like to know what US cities are good for being a Casting Director or in the field of casting in the entertainment industry for TV,Film and or commercials!
I know LA and NYC, but for me I would have NYC as the last result because its SOOO expensive I know LA is expensive but NYC is ridiculous

Also cities in Canada as well would be nice if you can mention

In my former life I worked in the television and film industry. I am from the DC area, attended college in the Baltimore area, then moved out to LA to work in the industry. My good friend worked for years at the top Baltimore casting agency. From my perspective in the United States it's really just Los Angeles and NYC that does casting for major films. Though Baltimore had a number of projects for agencies to cast, they were never casting lead roles..or really any speaking roles. It was usually just extra work they would get hired to cast or stunts. The lead roles were always already cast in LA or NYC. I went to interview in DC for a casting director and she told me that the DC area was solely industrials (training videos). This was over 10 years ago but I doubt much has changed. I don't know anything about casting in Canada. I auditioned for a few commercials in Baltimore and DC with a few agencies, so there is some work but there's just not as much going on around here as in LA or NYC.

Atlanta is the new "hot spot" for the film and television industry, and they need people there. I have been out of the industry for a few years and I still get calls to go up there to grip. Tyler Perry's production company is in Atlanta, and I have been hearing rumors that there might be a studio opening up around there. Another hot place is in Vancuver, BC too.
