Yeah I agree the first week of august was tons of jobs but the 2nd and 3rd week was not good at all. I don't have high expectations for the last week of August since most people took off for the holiday. So now the focus is on sept 4th
Yet, oddly enough...I interviewed around a holiday for the job I have now. Had one interview before it, one after it. Yes it delayed the process, but each time you find a reason not to apply on a day, that day is lost....

I said I;m still going to look but I don't expect to see anything because of the approaching holiday. It would be crazy for me not to look at all the entire week.
The only weekday I took off from job seeking was my birthday a few months ago because on that day is all about ME lol
Just a comment about the temp-to-hire observations up-thread -- I am aware that some so-called agencies are pretty scammy, scummy companies, but there are some excellent ones as well. And in some cases, with companies that are perceived as especially desirable as employers, the ONLY way you can get a foot in the door is through the agency.
My younger kid just went permanent with a fantastic employer; they have amazing benefits, strong promote-from-within policy, better than average pay and a commitment to continual training of their staff. He started as a temp with the agency that does all their hiring, was a temp for less than four months, then got his formal offer of permanent employment. He found it to be an ideal way to get a foot in the door, and he is on the road to a very successful career with them.
They're not all like that, not by any means. But if you find a reputable agency that works with a good employer, it can be a really good way to find out how well you fit in the company, how much you enjoy the work, and what the long-term prospects are there, without quite as much commitment as you'd have getting hired directly. I think particularly if you are exploring a new field, that can be a real benefit.

Wasn't April the month you were going to land that job?
Too close to Thanksgiving now, better wait until December.
Ya just keep going. Keep applying. Allow a day once in a while for self-pity and then get back in the game. You'll find a job as long as you keep going.
You know, that's actually good advice. While I was never fully unemployed, I was horrifyingly underemployed and while I looked, and looked and looked and looked, I did take days, here and there, to "feel sorry for myself". As dumb as that may sound, taking that day actually did get me to get back in to it the next day. Taking that day is what prompted me to apply, YET AGAIN, to a company that had already rejected me 8 times. Lo and behold, I finally got it.

This I always find nuts when you apply for a job at the same company several times, and then get a call, get interviewed and get hired. Great when it happens, but strange!
