I grew up in Maine and have been been living in AZ for 40+ years. My husband and I would like to move back to Maine. We own our own flooring business, and my husband is a flooring contractor.

He looked at job opportunities online, and found an advertisement for a ceramic tile installer in Portland. He sent a resume, with a cover letter, and never received a reply. He e-mailed the company to confirm receipt of his resume, and again never heard a word. Finally, he placed a telephone call to ask if they had received his resume, and was told someone would return his call. Guess what??? He never heard a word!!!

Has anyone else had this experience in their job hunting in Maine??? Why do they advertise for help?

Hopefully, this response is just from one company and he won't have the same experience with others where he seeks employment.

Sounds like someone is too busy or lazy to respond. Either that or the position has been filled and they don't have the common courtesy to inform other applicants of the fact.

Not sure I'd want to work for them. Their attitude has already expressed itself. Would you want to work in an environment that showed so little consideration?

I think it's fairly typical to get no response from emailing a resume for a job advertised on the internet.

Many jobs 'have to be advertised' legally even if there is someone already handpicked for the job. It's stupid and unfair but that's how it goes.

I do believe most of the internet jobs are 'scams' or non-existent. Better to send out resumes, target companies or check the local paper.
