Most engineers I know do a great deal of standing. I would assume it depends if you're working in the field or in the office. The last engineer I worked with spent 80% of the day standing just like us on the floor.
And yes, most doctors are also on their feet most of the day. Frankly, I think they run around frantically 50% of the day.
Truck driver.... Though you might have a different variety of ailments from prolonged sitting.
Whatever the job, if you don't take care of yourself you'll end up with something. Carpal tunnel and deteriorated vision are common for people that work desk jobs.
This.^^^^ A relative of mine works in an office and has developed some health issues because he doesn't get enough exercise and is pretty sedentary in his work.
OP: Have you talked with you doctor about your ailment? Maybe you have circulation issues or something.
The trouble with most desk jobs these days is that they are HIGHLY COMPETITIVE. Every American wants to sit on their butt these days. Some jobs that don't require standing:
Can anyone name some careers that are decent paying ($25 an hour range) that don't require you to stand all day? I currently have to be on my feet for 8+ hours at a low wage job, and it's causing me to have issues when I lie in bed at night (legs tingling and twitching) and I've been getting a lot of charley horses. Not to mention the obvious pain I get in my feet and legs during work.
As I've been researching careers I was quite surprised to see just how many people have to stand all day. Even highly educated professionals are forced to stand all day at work (pharmacists).
Yeah pharmacists also start out 70-80k/year soooo yeah theirs that.
I'm also an SLP and I do sit for long periods of time. If you work as an independent contractor you can make $80+ per hour.
I currently work for a school district, but wouldn't mind branching out to other types of work settings/types later on. If you know of any contracting compnaies, please PM them to me, thanks.
Also would like something that I wouldn't need to go to school long for (2 years max).
