I saw an ad for a municipal bus driver job.

Free driver training was offered.

Have you ever applied for such a job?

Would the applicant have a DOT physical before the training begins?

I am interested in the job but I do not know if I could pass the physical.
I do have high blood pressure.

You're not in the same state but...

My dad took a test to become a city mechanic. He passed and was selected not too longer after taking the test. He went through every single step. The last step was the physical.

He failed the physical because they discovered he had two heart conditions that he was completely unaware of---he had gone his entire life (he was in his 40s at this point) without a single issue with his heart. But it didn't matter---they deemed him unfit and refused to hire him.

I just did a simple Google search and someone talks about what might be acceptable levels to the DOT and possible issues with high BP. Good luck.
