So far as school and work starting at the same time.... it would be foolish if work were scheduled to begin at 8am, but, school didn't start until 10am. There is purpose to why they begin at similar times.
There are ways around scheduling. Colleges have classes t all kinds of times and numbers of days. Several semesters I was able to carry a full load going to all my classes on just Tuesday and Thursday, 7am-10pm.
OMG......I think most people misunderstood me. I was talking about why children amd adults have the same schedule. Why not just have some student attending in the afternoon to midnight? This would reduxe traffic.

I assume you don't mean sending your first grader to school at that hour, so if you mean college, the only problem is that many colleges are not in areas where one would want to walk to the parking lot after midnight, and there are many cost savings in public transportation by having full buses. Separating
work and school means a lot more drivers and half-empty buses, which would never happen.
I don't understand the question. It is physically impossible to be at work and at school at the same time. People have jobs while they are in school because they need to eat.
I waited tables in college. 2 days/week I'd go to class 8-11, and work 12-4. The other 3 days I could take classes all day and work in the evening.

Because the normal rhythm of the human body is to be awake and productive during the day and sleep at night. Because teachers want to work 8-4 not 4-midnight. Because people want to work while their kids are at school so they can spend the evening together. Because those working parents would have to be up at midnight to pick their kids up from school, then get up early in the morning to go to work. But, hey, if reducing traffic is your only concern...
It doesn't require mental energy like most career jobs do which is why it would be easier to go to school where you can all your focus on.
