This lady was convicted of verbal assault, and the charge was expunged. That is not a serious.

Ok,the bunny. I see the laws.

Someone else, please explain to me how checking criminal records effects blacks more?

Okay,I get that they are more liekly to have criminal records,so what would be the solution?

I'm guessing I want to know why they are more likely to have criminal convictions?

Oh my goodness, you are SO CLOSE to understanding disparate impact. Why indeed is it more likely? And, is the arbitrary background check Target is using in fact for the good of the business or was it designed knowing full well that it would result in African Americans being denied employment?

A lot of it is socioeconomic. A lot of it is stereotyping. There is a whole lot of stereotyping at Target in that article.

On Super Bowl Sunday I was at my local Target and there was one cashier and a very long line, when it was my turn I asked the cashier what the problem was. She told me 3 employees were out, one called in sick and the other 2 just blew off their shift.

And the one who was "sick" had a doctor's appt...on a Sunday?????

So I said "I guess that means they're terminated", nope, not even a written warning. She said it has to happen a few times before they let you go.

Maybe someone who has a minor record might take a job like this a little more seriously and actually show up. Because they have more to lose if they don't as opposed to some twenty something with little to no work ethic who thinks it's OK to not show for work.

The woman in the article has one arrest and had her record expunged. Would you rather she not work and collect welfare?

If Target is willing to let employees blow off shifts and get away with it, than maybe someone who has had some run ins with the law but wants to stay on the straight and narrow won't chance not showing up for work.

Exactly!
