Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's gonna be the new norm for most Americans, brought to us by Wall Street, multinational corps, Big Business, the banksters, and their buddies in DC and state legislatures.

It is like a portion of the population thinks you should eat scraps while they eat a steak. Since when did wanting enough to survive become "entitlement?" I would be happy with $26,000 a year. I don't really need a lot of money, I just need to make more than $1000 a month.

I don't care if I ever own an Ipad or a brand new car. I just want a decent apartment, one slightly used car, decent food, health care, and clothes on my back. Oh, and I would be totally happy shopping for clothes at Goodwill, Kohl's, JcPenney, or TJ Maxx. I don't need fancy designer clothes.
I believe I gave you this suggestion 5-6 months ago. You said you were working in manufacturing. Find a shop that's running production swiss turning. They are always looking for operators. May will train people with some manufacturing experience. 50% of them are women in my experience, and about 30% are college graduates. You might make $12 an hour to start, but after a month of training, you would get so much overtime that you could easily clear 40K. The easiest 40K you could ever earn if you can believe it. There are many shops in the Chicagoland area, which isn't far away from you. And everyone offers health and dental at least. If they don't, they pay a higher hourly wage. A shop just north of where I live is paying their operators $17/hr, opportunity to work sundays at $40/hr, and a $200 weekly bonus if 98% of their parts pass quality control. If I didn't have much opportunity, experience, etc, that's what I would do.

I think the low wage thing sucks as well. I'm in a similar job and I'm going to have to get out of town as soon as I can get my finances together. Out here you basically have to have a bachelors degree just to answer the phone (and that's for a sucky phone jockey job). I'd move closer to the coastlines or a big body of water since the heartland sucks for jobs. I'd also try to live in a place where you don't have to drive a whole lot. Automobiles are expensive to own and I don't think it's going to get cheaper anytime soon. If you can't move to a pedestrian-friendly city, try living next to the commerical district. I lived right next to the mall here in SF years ago and that was very handy as far as shopping goes. Hell the grocery store was literally right across the street! I also had access to plenty of jobs so if the job at Toys R Us canned me I could literally walk across the street and get something else. Suburbia has never made sense to me; I think that there's more potential to either living in a place like NYC or next to something like a shopping mall or the commercial district of a city. Since you mentioned that you have to drive almost everywhere I'd consider that for the next place you plan to move to, redroses. Of course it also depends on your individual circumstances. I don't have family to care for so I'm a bit more flexible. Also, I think you should try to rearrange your lifestyle to where you don't have to spend money all the time. I'm trying to fit more freeganism in my lifestyle and even just a little bit helps (and it also relieves stress to boot...treasure hunt time!).

Hello everyone I just wanted to tell you about a better way we can all live healthy, happy, non stressful fulfilling lives... if I told you there was a movement going on that can solve all our problems with the wage slave game ... be honest people are you really living or just paying bills before you die?
The movement is called the zeitgeist movement..if you have never heard of it please be open minded and think outside the box... I will sum up what the movement is in a nutshell... if everything was provided for you and your family ..shelter..food...water...electric...education...t ransportation...healthcare....anything and everything you could possibly need or want to survive and be the best person you could be oh and guess what no bills.. or debt would you want to live in a society like this ? Most people always think there is a catch ... well there is one catch ... all citizens that live in this society have jobs ....the only difference is they are not getting paid with money ....and no that does not mean they would be slaves and work themselves to death ... in reality all citizens that are able to work have assigned tasks and jobs to make sure the self sustaining city is running in tip top shape ... children and people who are disabled would all still be provided for and cared for ..it would be a way of living that every human being would be provided for ... no one would go hungry, or homeless.... if humans are to continue to evolve and become a better species we need to stop putting a value and a price on living in this world ....we only have one planet ... there is no earth 2 and at the rate we are going now with all these corrupt corporations sucking the lives and the environment from under us while they make billions of dollars is a battle we are going to lose at a great price ... OUR LIVES >>> So if you want to learn more about the movement please click the link ZEITGEIST: THE MOVIE | 2007 (HD) - YouTube

move to Europe not the other places your were looking at ( OK, NM)in the US. THis is basically a form of socialism and maybe communism to a degree. Believe me some people want better in life!! Some people do want TO WORK HARD and get ahead they don't want to be equal!! They want CAPITALISM!!! Some people are real go getters and save and bust their ass to be at the top!!!

I am trying to find a second job, but everyone is looking to work a second job in my area because my area is a minimum wage hell hole so finding a second job has been difficult.

I am just wondering if anyone out there has made it out of minimum wage work and into the middle class within the past 4 years or so. I am wondering if there is any hope anymore because honestly I would rather be dead than continue to live like this.

Oh, I don't have cable and use free Internet. I do have a car because it is my only way to get to work because there is no public transportation in my area. I have pretty much cut everything remotely enjoyable out of my budget. So don't give me the living beyond my means bull **** and I should just love living without healthcare and the glasses I need. Yes, I am driving without glasses and do struggle to see signs.
