I do that, too! I actually go back to 1994 on my resume because of the relevant experience.

OP: Regardless of how long ago it was, that experience and stability in her job COUNTS!

I'm guessing she did the work at Sears in the pre automation days. So her ability to get the job now would depend on demonstrating to employers the majority of the functions is stuff she has familiarty with.

Short of posters actually working in retail mgmt now and than, I doubt any of us can answer the question asked with much confidence.

They hire people for retail jobs like that without any experience. What she has is better than nothing.
