Yeah I have figured I should be patient.

In march of 2012 I was making $33k. Got this job in April of 2012 and started at $40k. Year later now $45k.

So I cant complain seeing as I have gone from $33k to $45k in a matter of 13 month so.

Also, again the experience I am getting from this job is crazy amazing. By getting this experience here, when in the future I get a new job it will give me leverage to negotiate a higher salary, than if I were to leave right now. 1 year doing what I do now compared to 3 years of it makes a difference $$$ wise. Also I a positive a promotion willbe given to me by April 2014, again making future employment endeavors when it comes to $$$ much better!

To he honest to, it's 12% raise. Even if its only an extra $5k it shows they do wantto keep me. The standard was 4%

Job jumping is pretty much the only way to get substantial raises these days. I got a 33% increase switching jobs.

No promo.

9% merit raise for me. The rest of the company got about 4%.
That's astounding!

Sounds like the top rated hospital I worked for. Pay increases of 1-2% last few years and discontinued 403B match. Yet they made $100m in each year I worked there but cried poverty. They built not a new wing but a billion dollar tower and received mega donations.

I hear from former colleagues that 0% increases are being mulled. Happy days!

Raises are both individual performance based and reflect what competition pays for similiar jobs at smart companies. This second factor is often called the competitive adjustment. The timing (frequency) as well as amount of the raise are impacted by both performance and competition. Cost of living as not a factor in professional raises in my experience. Many companies reflect team performance in bonuses.

This is my experience. When competition for scarce talent is high like it is now, often raises or competitive adjustments are made more frequently than once a year or so.
