Hi All!

I've been offered my first job that doesn't require a uniform, and I have to dress like a grown-up!

This leaves me asking the horrible question of what is business casual for women? I have 2" pointy toe pumps, black dress pants, hosiery, but the tops ... I have no idea what types of tops to get! I'm top heavy, so button ups make me look silly.

I'm going to be working in an industrial environment. I'm going to have to be able to move easily. Personally, this makes me want to get some nice cotton tee ****s.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Ones with images even more so .

Thanks!

Loose blouses if you can find them, unless you're going to be working with any heavy machinery.

There are tops out there that have some give to them. Most stores like Kohls, Belks, Dillards, Macys, have sections that have tons of tops that could work for your job. Try Marshalls and Tjmaxx also.
Just make sure that they aren't too tight, and the cleveage does not dip too low.

wireyourworld, I know polos are a good idea, but I've begun to associate them with work uniforms for places like the apple store, or fast food. Does anyone else thing that, or is it just me?

I will be working with heavy machinery. What is a blouse? And what's close to being a blouse and isn't? Like, when does a blouse become to casual?

A blouse is like a dressy loose shirt that you can wear with either nice pants or casual pants or even under a pantsuit and it just gives business attire a classy tone and casual attire a professional tone. I don't know what they look like today but my mom gave me some of her older ones and I wear them once in awhile. You can probably find them in the women's sections of stores with the dress apparel. Polos are good too but I do get sick of them.

I agree. JC Penny has a nice array of career tops. They are trendy as well for all sizes from petite to plus.

POLOS ARE NOT BUSINESS CASUAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (for guys or girls!!!!)

Go to the mall, check out Macys, Pennys, Sears. Look in "career wear" department. You'll be sure to find some business casual tops there.
