I had an interview on 5/13 (about a week ago). I came out from my interview feeling really good, they said, I think I like you and will let you know at the end of this week (that meant today). This is the email that I received just now, please let me know what you think?

Thanks, I hope to fill this position within the next couple of weeks!

This sounds like a response that was sent because you sent them an email asking for a status. Is that correct?

It sounds like they're saying they're still interviewing and if they're interested in hiring you they will contact you.

It means probably no.

Looking at it optimistically, they may be looking to finish their rounds of interviews and you still may be in the running.

Sounds like they are telling you it may be a few weeks before they make a decision.

I didn't contact him after the interview. But he promised me during the interview that he will contact me today.

That was the entire content of the email: Thanks, I hope to fill this position within the next couple of weeks! ?

It means: don't call me, I'll call you.

it sounds like this person promised you a response and they're giving you one, but they haven't made a decision yet. it's just an update saying that they're still working on it. it's worded kind of weirdly but it's a considerate thing to do.

Kind of an odd way to start an email by saying "thanks", that usually indicates the person is responding to an email.

Regardless, as other have said they're still looking, doesn't mean you're out of the running, but I would keep looking and not contact them again.

It means that they are still interviewing candidates. I would keep looking for another opportunity.
