I applied for what I thought was a finance job. Then it became a reverse mortgage specialist job. From there it morphed into a person trying to sell me proprietary software that would make me rich.

Interesting about Cutco. Some of the comments after the article are clearly planted.

Anyone familiar with this? It seems like a pyramid scheme to me.
Insurance sales and stock broker work the same. Call all your friends and contacts to convert them to customers. No thanks that would **** me off if I was their friends. Amway tried that crap on me.

I got fooled into vector marketing (cutco). I was a college student. I had an F in street smarts.

PS. The company has court orders demanding they improve their unethical behavior. Employees are treated as independent contractors to get around employment laws and avoid liability for employee claims. The knives are NOT created out of the grade of steel that they claim, but that claim is made to independent contractors who then repeat it. When the independent contractor repeats it the company is not liable for the accuracy of the statement.

Whenever I see fliers for cutco recruiting I just take down the stack and toss it into a recycling pile.

I remember all the fuss back in the 70s. "Hey, grab your whole family and friends and check out this money making enterprise, it's great". I went to two of these meetings just to appease friends and some family member. It was advertised for exactly what it was, a pyramid scheme. Some smiling dudes with a large chalkboard with a pyramid drawn on it with squares. No products or services provided except for talking folks into handing over money and for them to find others to hand over their money. It was clear to me as a kid, not many can fit at the top of the pyramid.
