yeah, you can have a masters, a doctorate, or you can be a nurse practioner, which is almost a doctor.

why doesn't it surprise me that jman here doesn't know much about nursing!

good grades are a good sign of competence
after that, you dont have to be THAT smart/intelligent because you'll be focused on one field of whatever you studied for
