1. Comparing A and B, both have jobs available COL balances out with pay etc.
2. If I lose my job which state has better benefits. Sure ain't NC. Texas is pretty bad from what I have seen. Have some of the highest number of uninsured. These are very important to consider because the economy that way it is, you could very easily lose a job these days.
Even though, I'm a liberal, I will point out that most of the people who put out lists say the cities that have the best combo of employment, affordabilty and salary are mid-sized cities in central and mountain time zone conservative states. Think Omaha, Des Moines, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City and Austin.
Who really cares about the political views of people in a city? It's good to have a job, and it's horrible to be unemployed. Does it make you feel any better or any worse regardless whatever the political views are of a city? Sheesh

Because believe it or not, but political views have a lot to do with how people bond, associate and fraternize.
The three things you're supposed to never discuss, sex, money and politics ironically have a lot to do with who you have as friends and acquaintances.
If you're Ted Nugent, Berkeley is probably not a place you'll make a lot of friends. And what fun is a place to work and live in if you can't make friends.

I live in the greater Seattle area, and I am finding it difficult to make friends. I am not sure of the reason why, but I do know I have to keep my opinions to myself around most people, because the majority opinions tend to be different than mine.
