I know for a fact that Walmart store assistant managers IE shift managers make $60,000 a year, their co managers make over a $100,000 a year, their store managers usually make over $100k a year. I know this because of I do some of their managers taxes. I have yet to meet anybody who works in fast food that makes over $60,000 a year. There is not a costco in my area so I do not know what they pay their management, but I have a hard time believing it is much over what walmart pays, walmart just does not pay their shelf stockers or cashier much money, as they have no need to, that pay a competitive wage for the position. In fact I know that a friend of mines wife works at Target full time and recently got a .50 a hour raise, as walmart was paying more then target.
All relative to area and time on the job. I used to PT at orange store and was making $10.75 hr in Miami, in 2001 moved to Tampa now and the best they can offer is $8 per the "market" even if I am experienced, and no I did NOT transfer. My G-daughter makes $9 hr at Publix after 90 days,, no such luck for me, and now due to Obamacare all going to less than 29 hrs. a week so they do NOT have to pay... so in either way I will make less.I think retail pays about the same- dollar more or less in the area. Not enough to live on for sure. One bed apt now runs no less than $700 a mo, go figure,,, rat bas***s- glad it is ONLY pt for me, but feel very bad for those that only have that job--- and scheduling SUCKS.
