Working with liars
Has anyone found themselves working with people who lie, and I mean lie incessantly, more than once?
Even when the lies surface, they tell more and more lies, and embellish them to cover for themselves.
Is this what things have come to in the workplace?

It happens. Usually they either get fired or promoted :-)
Best thing to do, always CYA.

Yup, the worst of this type were attorneys when I was working as a consultant on a couple of projects for them.
Since I value my integrity and sanity more than the dollars their projects were bringing in, it was a no-brainer to terminate (effective immediately!!! our relationship. Fortunately, their staff had forgotten to present to me or have me sign a contract for the services I was to provide. Oh, and they never paid me in over 4 months of providing 100+ billable hours per month of work for them.
You really get to see the dark side of certain folks when you deny them services critical to their businesses.
Too F'ing bad ... life's too short, I've got folks out there who appreciate my work and pay me fairly & promptly.

CYA! I had a five drawer legal filing cabinet filled with copies of every letter, fax, email memo, scrap, post-it, you-name-it-I-kept-it. All done at the request of my supervisor. We used to hear stories that were blatantly untrue being circulated about our department and found that having the "true story" in writing was a blessing, and a necessity.
Saved our rears many a time. Also made an enemy of the owner's son. Don't care, I left.
I've since heard the bosses son was asked to leave by the Board of Directors. Seems they got tired of losing all the top people because of the harassment and stress caused by the guy.
I still chuckle about it.

I archive every email. It's come in handy more times than I can count.

I've dealt with people like that....they've been around since the beginning of time.
I've found that if I keep my ducks in a row, their lies with eventually catch up with them.
In the end, they'll lie themselves into a corner that they can't get out of.

There are people that would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. I had to work with a guy like that for almost 2 years and I kept telling our boss he was NOT what he was presenting himself to be and the boss kept defending him..
As captnemo62 said, it did all catch up with him and he lied to the boss one to many times and it made the boss SO mad, especially that he had been conned for so long. Bye, bye! He is no longer there.
They do trip themselves up when they forget WHO they told WHAT lie to and sooner or later, they do forget.
