I said accurately the company did not live on in its present state.

Little known fact: Neither did GM after bankruptcy. It also is a brand new corp, with the old ones assets either absorbed into the new, sold, or dissolved. Just like the former failed Hostess.

18,000 calculated risk-might as well have bought Powerball tickets. They were using a losing hand, unless, of course-there really is a need for knowing how to insert 2 puffs of cream into a cake roll..to the tune of 18,000 workers.

I do agree the debt load of excessive employee legacy costs was too much to bear. Problem solved, and Twinkies live on.
This is what you said, this is wrong, and made you look stupid. You look more and more stupid as this thread progresses.

Will you harden up and admit it? "I was wrong" - can you rise to the challenge?

If I had been, I would, but truthfully saying it does not exist in its former state is the accurate way to describe it. Your spin was only appropriate if it ceased to exist altogether-like say, the Edsel. That did NOT occur. Most of the former Hostess brands are alive and well, so stating "It does not exist in its former state, but the brands lived on"..is accurate.

Now we could say the Hostess bargaining unit died. That would be totally accurate.

I didn't spin anything, I simply quoted your post, bolded what was wrong and told you that you were wrong. You said "actually the company did survive" and now you think no one here can read that. That quote says nothing out "its current state". You were WRONG and do not have a basic knowledge about how businesses are structured. I am laughing at your attempt to twist and turn when you could have typed "my bad" hours ago and carried on.

Trust me now you look even more stupid than you did 5 minutes ago. Admit you were wrong or abandon the ship. The wheels fell off your little red wagon hours ago yet you keep acting like you will win the race. You make a laughing stock of yourself. I will keep hammering on you until you admit you were wrong or flee. Because it is fun for me.

Well then they should go find a new job. They can't honestly expect someone to just fork over more money for no skills.
Going to college might be simple for some, but not all. People who get B's will be overlooked by people who get A's. People that need to work 40 hrs and then go home and take care of their kids might not have the time to go to school and study! (I'm taking about adults here, not kids fresh out of high school) When you are younger, you have more opportunities.

Also, not everyone can go to the military. Even though, I am a female and I wouldn't - I have a genetic disorder that more than likely would disqualify me from joining the military even if I wanted to join! (neurofibromatosis)

Finding a new job is easier said that done. Just because someone works at McDonalds doesn't mean they have no skills. By working in customer service you gain a lot of experience & skills. My first job was in customer service, and I did learn a lot there. Sure, it was just a cashiering job at a local grocery store, but I truly learned the value of treating other people how I want to be treated, which is the way I still do to this way. Sometimes I'm TOO nice!

Thats why it really bothers me when people are so quick to judge people who work at fast food or can't go to college, you don't know their skill level. Sure, of course there are always going to be those workers who just don't care, but that's not everyone.

I have no qualms about anyone working these jobs, and gracefully accepting what our Fair, free Market has deemed their skills worthy of.

I also have no qualms if such job actions by the disgruntled lead employers to decide robots are preferable to employees who , all of a sudden, are Boo Hoo-ing over the wages they willingly accepted upon their hire.

Employment at will means they have the freedom to quit. It does not give them the right to dictate what the employer must pay.

Liberals are a bunch of short-sighted morons. They're going to ruin this country.

The fact that BUU likened working a minimum wage job to slave labor is both offensive to African-Americans and indicative of a diseased liberal mind. Minimum wage work is in NO WAY like slave labor. Every single person who chooses to work a minimum wage job CHOOSES to do so, and is FREE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME.

The fact that you painted yourself into a corner, having kids and expenses beyond your means while not having the skills to back it up is entirely YOUR FAULT. Don't expect businesses to sacrifice their existence in order to make up for your poor life choices.

I recommend that all of you traitorous libs leave this country you hate so much and go live in such socialist havens like North Korea and Cuba. Drop us a line on how it goes, if the government grants you internet privileges.

Hahaaa what is this a bob sock... "company" and "brand" still aren't synonymous, sorry I upset you. No not really.

Not society's fault. Deal with it.

Finding a new job is easier said that done.

No one said life is easy. Deal with it.

Being nice isn't a skill, it's a quality. There are many nice people who can smile while hitting buttons on a cash register, thus you are easily replaceable. That's reality. Deal with it.

Thats why it really bothers me when people are so quick to judge people who work at fast food or can't go to college, you don't know their skill level.

Your theoretic skill level is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that you're there to flip burgers and hit buttons on a register. These are skills which most people possess and, as a result, you're easily replaceable.

If you had extraordinary burger-making skills you wouldn't be at McDonalds for 30 years. You'd hone your craft and move up to a fancy burger place, then you'd save up your cash and eventually take a risk on a burger place of your own. Then you'd hire a bunch of ungrateful good-for-nothings who'll hate you for your success and demand you pay them way more than they're worth because you get to drive a nice car and they don't.

Employers have enough reasons not to hire anybody. Raising minimum wage will just make things harder.
