Gee which is worse? Discussing current events or listening to a room full of guys (totally condoned by the male execs) talk about football and fantasy football all day? Seriously? My last co-worker was great to work with, we had big flat screen tv's in our Network Ops Center, which we had tuned to the news most of the day. Some people are just news junkies (why else would CNN, MSNBC, etc., be so popular)...come on now...there's a lot of sad news out there, I just moved here to Florida from Denver, Colorado in July and was pretty devastated and worried for friends that were in flood areas. There is such a thing as compassion for people/events. I worked with a woman who NEVER watched the news because it was never good so therefore she had no idea what was going on in the world. It probably took her a month to hear about 9/11.

Sounds like you and your coworkers need more work to do.
