When company can access and monitor your usage, do they mostly pay attention to what you do on the company computer and not necessarily what you are doing on your mobile phone using the company wifi?
If you are connected to the company wifi, can they access your email and twitter accounts even if you don't launch those apps? Or if the app is running in the background but you don't actually open it?
Not necessarily, company wifi can be monitored also, since it is company wifi and company property.
I don't think if they are monitoring your use, that they can open your applications. If you open your applications, then they can monitor the usage. If someone remote accesses your PC through remote desktop, the applications can be opened, but this is not done through the wifi access point/controller, it is done through another client PC.
I doubt they can get your passwords but your traffic will definitely be monitored. If that bothers you, use 3G/4G on your smartphone.. they can probably monitor that too but they'll need the skills of a sophisticated hacker.

It varies depending on the employer's capabilities and how closely they watch. Generally, though, anything on any company network is monitored, including wifi. Being able to trace what you do on your own phone (on the company wifi) back to you might be a little harder, but not impossible. It's unlikely they would read your tweets and emails, unless you work in a very high security environment, but again it's not impossible. If an active investigation is underway, all bets are off.
With that said, you should assume anything you do using company resources, hardware or networks, can be seen by your employer, and you shouldn't do anything you'd not want to have to explain or be embarrassed by.
Sound advice. My office environment is pretty secure and it is heavily monitored. They even started blocking social networks (Facebook and Twitter) through Websense. When I'm in the office, I use my iPad with 3G and bypass their network. Still, when I'm on company property, I won't do anything (even on my iPad) that would be deemed embarrassing.
I work from home a lot and using a 2nd laptop to "surf" which is independent from the company PC, which is on the VPN.
Pretty much for me: company PC is for work and personal PC/iPad is for personal use.

Will they be able to know all my forum usernames and read my forum posts?
You have multiple threads going on this. If you're really this worried about it, JUST DON'T DO IT.
Yep, this right here. Buy a home computer. Get a smart phone, walk outside, and use some other wi fi source. Problem solved.
