I am SO glad I no longer have a "dress code." We just wear nice clothes, like what you would wear to church but no strict dress code. I remember being reprimanded at my old job for wearing a dress shirt with three buttons at the top instead of buttons going all the way down. Yeah, like that really mattered.

I don't even know what "church clothes" means anymore. I see everything from suits to jeans and t-shirts at church. Do Protestants all dress the same?

A tshirt means alot if you've gone cheap on the light colored button down. You can see right through them.

I usually try to steer away from light colors as much as possible anyway only because my luck has it they immediately attract stains and other mishaps...

A grey shirt is the best if you don't want the undershirt to be visible underneath the button-up.

Yes, if your pants have belt loops, a belt is necessary.

Now here's the tricky part,as far as business politics and 'heirarchy',I was advised at one time not to try to 'outdress' the bosses I highly doubt that I could accomplish that with my resources vs theirs...but as far as what they outlined, before I got the email I had already planned to wear dress shirts and not polos or what they list as business casual. I'm not planning on wearing ties or jackets though,so hopefully that should be sufficient...
Wear a button down dress shirt and dress pants (darker color or grey). No polos or golf shirts. Done.

You won't overdress anyone (but won't look like a bumpkin) as golf shirts and khakis are considered bc as well.

I have never seen a dress shirt with 3 buttons at the top. That's a polo or golf shirt, which is not dressy.

And if your pants don't have belt loops, new pants are necessary.
